DesignByU makes solid-timber dining tables, epoxy resin river tables, servers and seating to order in our own factory in Fourways, Johannesburg, with a showroom at the Design Quarter. We build for clients in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana and deliver the finished piece to their door.
There is no catalogue size to settle for. You give us the length, the timber and the look, and the piece is made for that room.
How an order across the border works
- 1. Tell us the piece and the room
- Send your measurements, a photograph of the space, or simply the number of seats you need. WhatsApp works well across the border.
- 2. We quote in writing, in Rand
- The quote covers the piece, the timber, the finish and the delivery to your address, with the delivery time stated on the quote.
- 3. We build it
- Normal build times apply: eight to twelve weeks for a resin pour, shorter for solid-timber pieces. Your table is built in our own Fourways factory.
- 4. Crated and delivered — or collected
- We crate the piece and deliver it to your address across the border. You are equally welcome to collect from Fourways with your own transport.
Prices, duties and paperwork
Everything is priced in South African Rand
Every price on this site, and every quote we issue, is in Rand. We do not convert to Namibian dollars, Pula or US dollars — your bank does that on the day you pay.
Delivery is quoted per job
Cross-border delivery depends on the size of the piece and the distance, so it is priced for your order and confirmed in writing before we start building.
Import duties and local taxes are yours
Any import duty, VAT or clearing charge raised in Namibia, Zimbabwe or Botswana is for the buyer's account. We supply the invoice and description of goods needed at the border.
Or collect from Fourways
If you are travelling down, or already use a transporter, collect the finished piece from the factory and we will help load it.
Where we deliver
Namibia
Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Oshakati
Namibian homes and lodges order our live-edge and resin river tables regularly. Delivery runs from Johannesburg through the Nakop or Ariamsvlei border, and the timing is confirmed on your quote.
Zimbabwe
Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Mutare
For Zimbabwean clients we build the piece to your dimensions and deliver via the Beitbridge crossing, or hand it over in Fourways if you prefer to arrange your own transport.
Botswana
Gaborone, Francistown, Maun, Kasane
Gaborone is a short run from our Johannesburg factory, which keeps delivery on a made-to-order table straightforward. Lodges in Maun and Kasane are welcome to ask about larger boardroom and dining spans.
